The varied stone coursing that is a distinctive element of the exterior of this television station sited on a prominent corner of Nicollet Mall, a main pedestrian thoroughfare in downtown Minneapolis, reflects the many layers of material ingenuity and the sophisticated urban response evident in this project. The client asked that the project look like a television station and showcase its technology and be contemporary yet the design does all of this while providing a welcoming presence, a good urban neighbor with material warmth that one critic describes as "not only a very classy building, but one with good manners."
