HARMONY OF MATERIALS
The Center is made memorable by the unexpected juxtaposition of dramatic forms and unique materials. Entry into the Center is grand and exciting. Arriving by car under the soaring porte-cochere, patrons stand next to the massive inverted cone of the concert hall. The tall curving wall that leans out high overhead is clad in panels of green pre-cast concrete commissioned from local sources. The interior of the concert hall has a distinctly different character. Warm colors, copper acoustical panels, and the embracing sweep of the balconies create a very intimate concert-going experience.
CLIMATE RESPONSIVENESS
The Corpus Christi Bay-facing lobby provides patrons with fantastic views from the Center but the seaside location brings increased vulnerability to severe coastal storms. Models of the Center were wind-tunnel tested to ensure superior structural and material integrity during intensely bad weather.
