PartnerDouglas Moss, AIA, NCARB, LEEDŽ AP is a Partner of Holzman Moss Architecture, a national architectural practice that continues a forty-year legacy of making memorable spaces. The firm which he founded with Malcolm Holzman, is a successor to Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates, a leading planning, architectural and interior design firm, where Mr. Moss was also partner. Holzman Moss represents a continuity and advancement of HHPA's adventuresome spirit, and forges a decidedly personal way of design.
Mr. Moss is both actively involved in the administration of the office and as well as in the development and design of planning and building projects that include student centers, performing arts centers, museums, and civic facilities.
Current projects include the University of Missouri - Columbia, New Student Center, Columbia, MO; Studio Maestro, New York, NY; The Community Performing Arts Center at George Mason University, Manassas, VA; Shepherd University, Center for Contemporary Arts, Shepherdstown, WV; the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, Aycock Auditorium, Greensboro, NC; the Government Center, Cedar Hill, TX; the Oklahoma State University, Student Union Master Plan, Stillwater, OK; Delaware State University - Wellness Center and Student Center, Dover, Delaware; the City of Wylie Library, City Hall, and Recreation Center, Wylie, TX; and the North Carolina State University, Student Life Master Plan, Raleigh, North Carolina .
Mr. Moss's experience on academic campuses includes among others, the major expansion and renovation of the Student Union at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX; a Student Union and Academic Building renovation for St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, NY; the Columbus State University, RiverCenter for Performing Arts, Columbus, GA; the Murchison Center for the Performing Arts at the University of North Texas, Denton, TX; a study for the Norris Student Center at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL; programs and expansion plans for two Student Activity Centers at Colgate University, Hamilton, NY; a master plan for Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV; and a master plan and Library and Administration building renovations at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, NY.
Among his projects in the performing and visual arts are the ImaginOn, Charlotte, NC; the Lubbock Regional Arts Center in Lubbock, TX; the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and Education Center, San Angelo, TX; the Fox Theatres Entertainment Center, Wyomissing, PA; the Plano Courtyard Theatre, Plano, TX; a Master Plan for the Long Wharf Theatre, New Haven, CT; Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center Building Program and Strategic Plan, Bowling Green, KY; a development plan for the Dahesh Museum, New York; a master plan for the RAICES Latin Music Archive, New York; and a strategic building and site development plan for the Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, DE.
His commercial and civic projects include the Special Olympics Headquarters in Washington, DC; Riverwatch and South Cove Plaza; new residential buildings in Battery Park City in New York; the renovation and expansion of the Los Angeles Central Library; the Academy of American Poets, Office Renovation, New York; American Industrial Partners Office, New York; the Siena residential building, New York; 145 East 76th Street residential building, New York; and renovation of the Rainbow Room and Rockefeller Center Club, and Windows on the World Restaurant in New York. He has also worked on residential projects include the Sharp House; and Highland House.
Mr. Moss received his bachelor of architecture degree from Texas Tech University, where he was awarded the prestigious Alpha Rho Chi Medal of Architecture. He also completed the Museum Program, the Student Union Program, and the Financial Management Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is a native of Taylor, Texas.
